I want to share something that’s been on my mind lately as we focus on brain health this month. When I first dove into the world of hormone optimization—working with my functional medicine doctor—I got caught up in ALL the DOING.

The workouts, the meal plans, the lifestyle changes… you name it. It felt like an endless list of things to “fix.” But here’s what I realized that changed everything—not just for me but also for my clients:

It’s NOT just about what you do to achieve hormonal health or improve your relationship with food. It’s about HOW you do it. And here’s the thing: while you’re working hard to hit your goals, don’t forget about the silent killer that could be wrecking your progress… STRESS.

Even if you’re doing everything “right,” stress can still have a MAJOR impact on your brain, mood, energy levels, blood sugar, hormones, and sleep quality. And we don’t want to sacrifice one part of our health for another, do we?

So YES—eating a macro-friendly diet, getting your 2-3 strength sessions in a week, and focusing on mobility are all essential. But…So is managing your stress! 

My biggest recommendation?

Check-in with yourself more often! Take a step back and ask yourself these questions:

  • What’s one thing I did today or this week that made me feel proud?
  • How did I handle stress and challenges?
  • What’s one thing I can let go of to reduce my stress?
  • What am I grateful for right now?
  • How can I make more time for self-care and relaxation tomorrow or this week?

These aren’t just simple questions—they’re your roadmap to staying in tune with your mental and emotional well-being. And believe me, this is the difference between burnout and a sustainable transformation that leaves you feeling incredible.
