Hey Impact Family and Friends,
So, let me share a little story from last week. One of our Impact family members hit me with this new concept called the “winter arc.” When I asked what the hell that was, they explained it’s this idea of “stepping up” for winter—a specific season where you get all fired up, set goals, and put in work. And, listen, I get it; the thought of a focused “winter push” sounds motivating.
But then it hit me like a ton of bricks. This whole “winter arc” thing made me realize something powerful: I’m not just in for a seasonal arc; I’m on the full circle. For me, there’s no off-season. It’s about bringing my best game every day, whether it’s summer, winter, or a random Tuesday in October.
The idea isn’t just to turn up when it’s convenient but to keep the intensity on year-round. And I can tell you this: the results that come from that mindset are worth every ounce of sweat and effort. To be real, it’s not just about feeling like I’ve got an edge. There’s a big part of me that’s straight-up afraid of letting myself slip into a place where I feel old, look old, and perform like I’m losing ground.
It’s that fear that drives me, but more than that, it’s the pride I feel in how I show up. It’s about knowing that my habits, my routines, and how I treat myself all reflect the respect I’ve built over time for the goals I’ve set. Here’s where I think the real “aha” moment comes in. If we only step up when it’s convenient, or when we’ve suddenly set a fresh goal, we’re on that rollercoaster of “on-again, off-again.”
And that, my friends, is a hard way to reach any lasting change. So, here’s my challenge: let’s break that “switch” in the “on” position and keep moving forward—no seasons, just consistency.
Why Should You Ditch the Roller Coaster Ride and Keep the Switch “On” Every Day?
- Habits Compound Over Time
Showing up daily creates that steady flow of results. Consistency builds momentum, which ultimately makes hitting goals easier (and way less exhausting than starting and stopping). - Progress Becomes a Constant State, Not a Destination
When you’re always on, you’re not chasing some far-off finish line. You’re constantly leveling up, and the results become part of who you are. - Turn Off the “Excuse” Button
Waiting for a specific season or event to turn things on just gives your brain an excuse to turn it off. If you’re always in “go” mode, that excuse isn’t even an option. - Respecting Yourself Means Showing Up for Yourself
How we treat our goals says a lot about how we treat ourselves. Being dedicated year-round is an act of self-respect, and the pride that comes with that is unmatched.
The point here? Let’s be relentless. Let’s not wait until January, or spring, or some other random day to dial it in. Let’s make showing up every day the goal itself. Break the switch ON, throw away the key, and let’s GO. Are you with me?
Committed to making every day count,
Coach Peter
