Hey Impact Family and Friend,
Happy New Year! I hope you wrapped up the holiday season feeling refreshed and ready to take on 2025. Personally, I had an incredible time ringing in the new year with my family in Quebec City. It was a trip full of fun, food, family, and lots of gratitude—the perfect way to reflect on the past year and set intentions for what’s ahead.
Now, if you’re like most people, you’re probably thinking about your goals for the year. Maybe you’ve already started drafting a list of New Year’s resolutions. But before you dive in, let’s take a step back and really dig into what makes a goal stick—not just for a few weeks, but for the long haul.
How Did Last Year’s Resolutions Go?
If you’re being honest, how did things pan out with last year’s goals? Or the ones from the year before? Here’s the reality: setting goals just because it’s January 1st rarely works. Not because resolutions are “bad,” but because meaningful, specific, and aligned goals are the ones that actually create lasting change.
To make this year different, let’s approach your resolutions in a smarter, deeper way. Before you saddle yourself with a long list of “to-dos,” take a moment to answer these 3 burning questions for 2025:
-
- What HABITS would make the biggest positive impact on my daily life?
We often overestimate what we need to do to reach our goals. Instead, focus on small, powerful habits that can create ripple effects in your life.- What simple, consistent actions will make you feel healthier, stronger, and more energized?
- Maybe it’s committing to 3 workouts a week.
- Or adding more vegetables to your meals.
- Or taking 10 minutes to journal or meditate each morning.
- Remember, it’s not about doing everything—it’s about doing what matters most.
- What HABITS would make the biggest positive impact on my daily life?
- What’s held me back in the past from taking action?
This isn’t about beating yourself up—it’s about learning from experience.
- Is it a lack of time? Let’s strategize ways to fit your goals into your schedule.
- Is it self-doubt or perfectionism? Let’s reframe the mindset so you can celebrate progress, not perfection.
- Is it inconsistency? Let’s build systems and routines to keep you on track.
- Acknowledging what’s stood in your way is the first step to overcoming it.
- How does this goal align with my core values?
- When your goals reflect what truly matters to you, sticking with them becomes natural.
- If family is a core value, think about how improving your health allows you to show up better for your loved ones.
- If freedom or independence is a priority, frame your goals around moving pain-free and feeling strong in your body.
- If confidence is key, think about how taking care of yourself physically and mentally builds the foundation for a more empowered YOU.
When you connect your goals to your why, they don’t just become tasks—they become part of who you are.
Make This Year Different
If you can take the time to answer these three questions, your resolutions will be different this year. They’ll be:
- More aligned with what truly matters to you.
- Easier to stick with, even when motivation wanes.
- Exciting and empowering, not overwhelming or draining.
Write your answers down, refine your goals, and commit to small, consistent steps. Remember, it’s not about having the perfect plan—it’s about showing up for yourself, day after day.
