Hey Impact Family and Friends,
Let’s talk about goals for a second—because whether you’re crushing it or feeling like you’ve fallen off, there’s a way to take the pressure off and still move forward.
Do you track your progress every single day? If you do, chances are you’re feeling one of two ways:
- You’re locked in, consistent, and feeling damn good about the progress you’re making, OR
- You’ve had a few slip-ups, and you’re already telling yourself, “I’ll start fresh in January.”
If you’re leaning toward B, let’s pause and reset—because here’s the truth: you don’t need to be perfect every single day to make serious progress.
Why “All or Nothing” Doesn’t Work
Daily tracking works wonders for some people, but for others—especially during busy seasons—it can feel like walking a tightrope. One “off” day can feel like a complete failure. That’s where the pressure builds, and before you know it, you’ve convinced yourself to stop trying altogether.
Sound familiar? I see it all the time:
- Someone misses a workout and thinks they’ve lost all momentum.
- They eat something “off plan” and feel like they’ve blown it.
- They start overthinking every choice, adding more stress instead of progress.
But progress isn’t built in a single day—it’s built over time. One workout missed doesn’t erase all your hard work. One less-than-perfect meal doesn’t ruin your progress.
The solution? Zoom out. Take the pressure off. Look at the big picture.
The Weekly Approach: Progress Without the Pressure
Instead of obsessing over what happens every day, shift your mindset to weekly goals. This gives you flexibility, room to breathe, and a sense of control.
Here’s what this can look like:
- Instead of hitting 10,000 steps every single day, focus on a total weekly step goal that works with your schedule.
- Plan for 3-4 workouts over the week instead of stressing about squeezing one in on a chaotic day.
- Aim for a weekly calorie target rather than being perfect every day—because one “off” meal can be balanced out without the guilt.
This approach gives you freedom to move at your own pace while still stacking wins. It’s about staying consistent, not perfect—and that’s where real progress happens.
Every Human is Built Differently
The reason this works is simple: every single human being is built differently—mentally, physically, and emotionally. Some people thrive with detailed tracking and daily check-ins. Others need flexibility, big-picture goals, and permission to have a few “off” days without throwing in the towel.
As coaches, it’s our job to figure out what makes you tick. What motivates you? What’s realistic for your life, your mindset, and your body?
Because here’s the deal:
- Your goals are yours—not anyone else’s.
- Your path forward will look different from everyone else’s.
- Your success comes from understanding what works for YOU—not what someone else says is “perfect.”
